Workshop Houston Now Powered by Solar Energy!

Green Mountain Energy® Solar at Workshop Houston
Donated in January 2009 by customers in Green Mountain Energy Company’s Big Texas Sun Club® and Standard Renewable Energy, Workshop Houston now has a 2.26 kW photovoltaic array on our roof. The solar array consists of 11 Kyocera 205 solar panels, and is expected to offset approximately 5,900 pounds of carbon dioxide each year. That’s the equivalent of planting 354 trees or not driving 6,554 miles annually! The array will generate enough pollution-free electricity to power approximately 13% of the buildings annual electrical usage.
We would like to thank Green Mountain and Standard Renewable Energy for helping Workshop Houston give back to the Houston community while promoting the benefits of renewable energy. The solar array will help us save money on energy costs and devote more resources to our after school programs that enrich the lives of young people in the Third Ward.
