Hey everyone!!! We have recently added a secton to Scholar Shop that displays some of our staff’s favorite reading selections.  We love to read here at Workshop Houston and we want our students to love to read,too. With books like The Autobiography of Malcolm X , Lord of the Flies , and Harry Potter , you will definitely find something that interest you. Books are also available for check out when available.

Hurricane Ike affected everyone that lives in Houston and many people in the surrounding areas as well.  We feel lucky that no trees fell onto our buildings, but we did sustain quite a few small damages that piled up into a fairly big job.  We have responded well, immediatly fixing the damaged roofs, broken windows and other odds and ends.  There were three large trees that had fallen across the street that we helped to clear as well.  The whole city, third ward not excluded responded to Ike with neighborly compassion.  When I asked one of the children that frequents the bikeshop what he thought of the storm he replied, “It made people nicer.”  Hopefully the community togetherness we all experienced after this storm will stay with us.

Workshop Houston will be closed on Monday, May 26 for Memorial Day
