New Bike Shop Roof!

Monday, July 13th, 2009

summer-2009-060

For anyone who knows the Bike Shop, they know that it is really hot in the summer.   We have added a layer of insulation and vent space that will keep the shop much cooler!  None of it could have happened without several really significant donations:

All of the Framing and Trim was provided by a crew from the Southhampton Group.  A big thanks to Marcel, Tim, Felix, and the whole crew!

The framing materials were purchased at discount from Montalbano Lumber.  Thanks Joe and Willie!

Insulation was donated by Southern Comfort Insulation.  Thanks, Chris!

Last but certainly not least, Craddock Roofing finished the job with new shingles and a ridge vent.  Thanks to Tom and the whole crew.

Workshop Houston Goes Solar!

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

This January, Workshop Houston is scheduled to begin producing electricity through a 2.6 kw photo-voltaic array right here on our roof!  The solar panels are being donated by Green Mountain Energy, and the installation is being donated by Standard Renewable Energy .

This array will help our organization be more sustainable, reducing our contribution to pollution and global warming while also saving us money on electrical costs! Thanks to everyone at Green Mountain and Standard Renewable.
