A lot has been going on in Beat Shop of late, so much that no one has had time to post about it.  In the past week we have been lucky to have three awesome musical guests!  Huge thanks to Josh Zulu (see DJ Josh Zulu and Zulu Creative) for his DJ workshop, to Jwad (see JawadMusic) for the amazing banjo performance/sing along, and to Ike for the inspiring hip hop drumming workshop.

Also, special congratulations to Beat Shop instructor and Workshop Houston Co-Founder Seth Capron on the birth of his daughter, Petra.

I made this poster by following  a tutorial on the internet.   I didn’t learn anything because I already knew how to do the tutorial.   My favorite part of this project was when it was over because I was finally finished with all my hard work.   It was a lot of  work but it paid off in the end.

Aaliyah and Nicole recently finished a few aprons (one of our intro to sewing projects) in Style Shop.  We already have quite a few aprons in Style Shop, so we figured they could use them over in Chopper and Bike Shop.  Here are some pics of our apron donation mission to Chopper Shop.  You can see how happy Matt and Will are with their awesome new aprons!

Workshop Houston celebrated the last day of school before the holiday break by making our own pizza on the grill, Go Kart rides, and WSH hoodies! Congratulations everyone on another great year!

Wow, we have had so much fun stuff going on in Style Shop this fall that I have been too busy to blog about it.  The style shop crew has been making tremendous progress in sewing, screen printing, drawing, and computer design.  With the approach of the Holidays we decided to take a little break from our normal routine and make some custom printed holiday themed t-shirts for the students to give out as gifts.  There are some very lucky parents and siblings in Third Ward if you ask me.  Here are a few (not very good) pics from the end of the week.
