Field Trip to Maker Fair
October 21st, 2008Saturday October 18, 2008 we took a day trip to Austin, Texas with 8 participants. We had a fun time at the Maker Fair and swimming at Barton Springs.
The Maker Fair celebrates art, craft, engineering, science, technology with a Do-It-Yourself approach, organized by Make Magazine. One of the highlights of the Fair were the Robot Games where robots battled in a plexiglass encased arena.
- Montrell is standing in front of a robot which shoots ping pong balls
- Based on the board game "Mouse Trap", this rube goldberg was built to human scale
- At this booth, this man made a contraption out of a trash bin, bungee cords, fabric, and a smoke machine which shot out smoke rings. Here is Deshon holding the ring shooter.
- Taj is showing off the algae at Barton Springs
- After swimming, Deshon skateboarded at the Barton Springs parking lot.
